About 100,000 poeple particpated in the Gold Rush.

 

The population in the Klondike may have been at 40,000, which could have caused a famine.

 

The population declined to 9,000 in 1901, when the first census was taken.

 

Many goldseekers had to take several trips over the 40-mile Chilkoot Pass.
